Words I Think (WIT)

Programming:

I am using C# and Java actively for my compiled work. I am using Ruby, Javascript, Beanshell for my interpreted work. I am trying to start making active use of some other languages.

I do want to focus on languages that are either working on the .Net runtime (CLR) or the Java runtime (JVM). The ones that fit into this camp are Nemerle and F# for .Net and JRuby and Clojure for Java.

I am also continually looking at, reading on and experimenting with programming in languages in a similar paradigm even though they have a custom runtime or none I want to use yet for the two I mentioned before. This list contists of Erlang, Haskell on hugs, Scheme on PLT, Ocaml, Dylan, and Io. I can read the syntax of code examples and I understand a number of the particular features that are specialized for them.

Computing Systems:

I have to get a number of my smp computer systems back up an running. They are going to be mainly for compiler offloading, downloaders, video streamers, and fmpeg re-encoders. I just have tons of parts and many platforms to get cleaned up, upgraded, and running. Foremost, I have a Sun IPX that I have finished doing solder repair work on for its nvram. It also can now use an external battery and I now need to get it closed and booting from the floppy. I hope to run one of NetBSD 3, Minix (?1.5?), or a small install of openSuSE 10.x on it soon.

Language:

I have spoiled a lot of my time not focusing on learning and using spoken languages. I would have liked if I were thought my parents native tounges from when I was young, but that is the past. I readily go over my Spanish, but I don't have anyone to really interact with me using the language. My little French understanding is decaying by the year and I am not sure if I am really going to crack open my German and Mandarin Chinese books this decade or any other. I now have asked my mother to help with words (Yuroba or Igbo (Ebo)) when she has time as I can't find anything good in any local books stores.

Goals:

Religion: I am on course though I have my share of moments when Iwonder off the trail.

Family: I am good with everyone but I don't see them as often I would like.

Friends: I don't really have that many any more. I am too much of a hermit.

Work: I definitely have to do more that just do things. Creativity is blinding some of my deadlines.

Self: Do more. I will sleep when my Lord calls on me.
